84-year-old woman dead after vehicle falls from parking garage

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow/Gray News) - An 84-year-old woman was pronounced dead after her vehicle fell from a high-rise parking garage in downtown Honolulu Friday afternoon.According to the Honolulu Police Department, just before 2:30 p.m., the woman was driving north on the fifth floor of the parking garage at 1088 Bishop Street. Her vehicle struck and broke through a retaining wall, then fell about five stories before landing on its roof on the sidewalk along Hotel Street.Emergency responseEmergency crews responded to the scene on Hotel Street just before 3 p.m.Crews were seen around the SUV, which was crushed upside down outside a convenience store.There was visible damage to the fourth-floor railing of a parking structure directly above the vehicle.EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene.Police said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.Investigation underwayHotel Street was temporarily closed between Bishop and Bethel streets as police investigated.Authorities have
